FUNDRAISING & DONATIONS
The Scout Group is a registered charity (Charity number: 300702) and part of the UK Scout Association.
All the Leaders and other members of the Group are volunteers. They do not receive any payment for their involvement in the Scout Group or for the time they give up for the young people in the Group.
-
The money the Scout Group receives comes from the following sources:
-
Subs paid by every young person attending.
-
Hiring out the Scout HQ to be used by other groups.
-
Gift Aid.
-
One-off donations from individuals or other groups (e.g. Parish Council etc.)
-
Specific fund raising activities (e.g. Scout Car Wash)
The easiest way everyone can maximise the money the Scout Group receives is to:
-
Pay any Subs owing on time
-
Ensure that a Gift Aid form has been completed and handed back to the Treasurer via one of the Section Leaders. See below for form to download.
More information on the Gift Aid scheme can be found on the Direct.Gov government website. The most important thing to be aware of is that giving via Gift Aid does not affect your income tax status at all. It does, however, make any money you give to the Scout Group go about 20% further so please use it if you can.
